This week we proudly diverted 143 lbs of kitchen scraps from the landfill — the equivalent of about 300 apples. 🍎♻️ Huge thanks to the Chass household for providing mountains of shredded carbon-rich material, this was much needed this week to keep the carbon:nitrogen ratio just right for perfect cooking. A shout out to the Towle household as well for a record weight of scraps dropped off!
And speaking of cooking — Compost Container #3 is now full! We’ll be rolling out Compost Pile #4 next week. That’s three full bins of community food waste transformed into garden gold.
We’re also excited to deliver one bag of heat-treated, finished compost to every participating household this week. 🌱
What can you use it for?
Our compost has been heat-treated for safety (we take pathogen-killing seriously!) but is still nutrient-rich and full of organic goodness. Once it’s added to your soil, natural microbes will recolonize it and help boost soil life.
It's ideal for:
-
Mixing into veggie beds 🥕
-
Revitalizing planters or flower beds 🌸
-
Feeding your lawn 🌾
-
Giving houseplants a healthy top-up 🪴
Please note it is not suitable to be uses as potting soil, rather an enhancer.
Thank you all and happy composting! 💚💚💚
