Good morning everyone! Another week of terrific composting done. We collected 137 pounds of kitchen scraps this week. We noticed a lot of cardboard in this pickup which is really helpful for helping break down the kitchen scraps and maintaining the browns : green ratio.
In other news, since GCP started, we have saved over 10 cubic yards of landfill space by diverting kitchen scraps to beautiful, nutrient rich compost. To give you a visual idea, over the the last 1.5 years we have filled 7 of our giant composting bins. Filling one of these bins takes a while as each week the level of kitchen scraps drops by between 1/2 and 1 foot as it decomposes.
Thank you all as always and we’ll see you next week!

Absolutely incredible work! You three have made such a positive impact on our environment, and are responsible for changing not only how we, in the neighborhood, think about food waste, but also our daily habits! Once you’ve started composting, it would be very difficult to go back to our old ways of doing things! Thank you!!!
