We usually check in every two weeks—but there’s been so much composting excitement lately that we couldn’t wait to share! 🌱
🪱 Scraps Galore!
Over the past three weeks, we have collected over an insane 1,000 pounds of kitchen scraps. Just this week, we collected an impressive 385.6 lbs. Your banana peels, apple cores, and stale cereal really add up! 🍌🍎🥣
🧮 By the Numbers
-
13.95 cubic yards of waste diverted from landfill since we began (almost 14!)
-
That’s thousands of pounds of methane-emitting trash turned into nutrient-rich compost 🌍
-
We’re proud to be inching closer to that 17,000 lb milestone!
🐌 Slowing Down for Winter...
Temperatures are dropping, and so are our compost pile temps. The bins are noticeably cooler, and even the worms seem to be hitting snooze. It’s a natural part of the cycle—but we’re monitoring and turning the piles to help keep things moving.
🧺 Big Bin Energy!
Our current three bins are officially full—so we’re expanding! This week we’ll be starting our fourth active compost bin into the system for the very first time. It’s a big milestone for us and a sign of just how much momentum the GCP community has built together.
❤️ Thank You!
Thank you to all our amazing composters—your small, consistent actions are making a big difference. We love seeing how many neighbors (and pumpkins 🎃) are joining the movement.
Stay tuned for photos, bin #4 updates, and more fun on our Instagram soon!
