We’re back with a double-dose blog update—and we’ve got a lot to share from the past two weeks!
🥕 Scrap Stats: A New Record!
-
Last week, we collected 132 lbs of kitchen scraps.
- This week, we smashed our previous record with a whopping 271.3 lbs collected! 🎉 Thank you to Addison and Noah for taking on the majority of the work this week so Mariam could celebrate her birthday!
- About 40 lbs of our total for this week was donated to the brand new compost bin at the Greenwich Botanical Garden, built by none other than fellow high schooler - Teddy Lovejoy! While the bin isn’t open to public drop-offs, GCP is proud to collaborate with the Botanical Garden occasionally to boost their composting power.
🌿 Composting with the Community
The last two weeks were not just about numbers—it was also about community connection and education:
-
GCP team members Addison and Noah helped out at Waste Free Greenwich’s Kids Compost Activity at Round Hill Church, where young composters got their first hands-on experience turning food scraps into soil.
-
Meanwhile, Mariam attended the Botanical Garden’s dedication ceremony honoring Teddy Lovejoy’s incredible compost bin initiative. Amazing to see more youth-led environmental action in our town!
Happy composting! 🍃♻️🌎
